How Does Motive Move You?

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no
longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5: 13-14 (NIV)

As an Artist and Tech I love to hang out with people like me. It is natural for us to want to play with and hang out with people who have similar likes and dislikes.  There is a connection there and I am easily drawn to others who share my interests.  However, I think that it is natural for us to sometimes confuse why we are doing what we are doing in worship/arts.

Something to think about: What get’s me the most jazzed about being a part of the worship teams at ORBC?  Am I here on week’s I don’t play or have a role? How important do I see Thursday’s devotion and my participation in it? How important do you see your role as a leader vs. a tech or musician? How is my role connected to my ministry and how is it different?

I pray that this week the Lord will reveal to you what your real motives are for being a part of worship/arts and that He will show you how to refocus your motive or to enhance it to have greater influence.
