Public or Personal Worship?

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:5-6

Worship leaders are constantly in the limelight. We touched on this topic last week. Technicians are usually more in the background, but they can still get caught up in doing something for the attention of others. I believe that God has designed a habit to help all of us in worship arts to keep from falling into that trap of doing our ministry for the attention of others.

Ask yourself: Do I have a regular personal worship time? If so, how is it different than my corporate worship? If you do not have a personal worship time, what would having one do for your spiritual walk? How might that change how God could use your gifts in worship?

My prayer for you this week is that the Lord would give you a passion to connect to His heart more privately
. Then, I believe we will all have a more genuine presence in public worship.
